Description

This powder is made from dried mulberries, which are then freeze-dried and ground into a fine powder. The result is a wonderfully sweet powder that is a great sweetener for a variety of desserts. Mulberries are a superfood with an unusually high protein and iron content and are also rich in vitamin C, fibre, calcium and antioxidants. Dried mulberries have a mild sweet flavour similar to dried goji berries and figs. These berries are dried so that they have a slightly crunchy texture.

  • Mulberry powder is both tasty and healthy. There are many ways to enjoy mulberry powder:
  • Add to muesli and combine with nuts, dried berries and coconut.
  • Add to baked goods. A great way to sweeten muffins, cakes, cookies and more.
  • Make herbal tea and add mulberry powder to the tea powder. Then strain through a sieve and enjoy!
  • Add to smoothies to add sweet flavour and nutrients.
  • Add to yoghurt.
  • Enjoy with a spoon straight from the bag

Health benefits of mulberries

1) Antioxidant power – Dried mulberries are an excellent source of anthocyanins, a group of antioxidants known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Mulberries have also been used to improve blood circulation. Dried mulberries also contain a compound called resveratrol, which is an equally powerful antioxidant. It is found in red wine and peanuts and is highly valued for its anti-ageing properties. Studies show that resveratrol can lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

2) A rich source of fibre – adding mulberry powder to your diet is a great way to increase the fibre content of your food. These delicious berries are ideal as a source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre helps control blood sugar and reduce harmful cholesterol levels, while insoluble fibre is essential for a healthy digestive system.

3) More vitamin C than is in oranges – 190% of the recommended daily allowance. Getting plenty of vitamin C is vital for supporting the immune system, repairing tissues and protecting vision. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant, which may reduce the risk of heart disease by fighting oxidative damage.

4) High in protein, iron and calcium – mulberries are unusually high in protein. Dried mulberries also contain 30% of the daily value of iron and 10% of the daily value of calcium. Iron fights fatigue and keeps you energetic as it carries oxygen-rich blood cells throughout the body. Calcium is the basis for strong bones and teeth, and adequate calcium intake can help prevent the risk of osteoporosis.
